Hello Yellow

Image via Fashionista
So if you watched the Emmys this weekend I'm sure you caught the fashion trend of the color yellow. There were some real beautiful dresses on the red carpet but I do have to say, yellow was the winner! I was really digging the rich color and how it just popped against the red carpet. It's not your normal or mainstream color for an awards show but it totally worked with the style designs of the dresses. Check out the slideshow of the other dresses from the Emmys red carpet.

Big Bootie

Fall is almost here and even though it still feels like summer out in LA, I've already busted out my booties. I am a big bootie lover! They are so versatile. You can wear them with a dress, skirt, pants...the list goes on and on and on. I've picked out some of my favorites below. Are you ready for fall fashion?

NYFW: Black & White

Image via Vogue

While we all love color in our wardrobe, I can never get enough of black and white. They have always been my go to colors when shopping for clothing more so black than anything. Vogue Magazine has put up a recap of all the black and white from New York Fashion Week from designers like Marc Jacobs, Victoria Beckham and Oscar De La Renta. It's definitely making a bigger appearance for the upcoming seasons, so check out the latest here.

Plethora of Prints

I am usually not a fan of prints at all because I sometimes feel that they give attention to all the wrong areas, but lately I really don't care :) Since I love wearing one statement piece in all my outfits, any pair of the below will definitely get that job done. Check out some of the below that I have seen around.

Wrapped Around

Recently I've been really into wearing bracelets especially my leather wrap bracelets, they're stylish and go with anything really. I have a few I wear in constant rotation and what's great is you can pair them with other wrap bracelets in any color, they mesh well together. I've been looking at other leather wrap bracelets and there are some real cute ones out there. Below are my favorites I wear all the time, they are both from Chan Luu who is well known for his unique wrap bracelets and others I've been checking out.

Fashion Week with Marc Jacobs...

Marc Jacobs via Style.com

We've been overloading the blog this week with all things Fashion Week but seriously how can we not talk about fashion when all of these awesome runway shows are happening. I wanted to showcase another awesome designer, Marc Jacobs, who pulled off 2 amazing runway shows for his Marc Jacobs Collection and Marc by Marc Jacobs Collection this season. He is by far one of my favorites designers out there with his unique design style, patterns and color combinations it's amazing how his mind works on and off the runway even all the way to his retail stores. It's fun to check out his stores on Melrose especially going to his Book Marc boutique which has funky trinkets, books and accessories. We made a stop there on Fashion Night Out and got some cool freebies, a shirt and gloves plus a cool souvenir picture. Check it out below. Marc Jacobs is one of the many designers I always look forward to during Fashion Week and also for the original themes he chooses for each show, it's more than just a show it's a production. Here are few images from each collection.

Zac Posen - Spring 2013

When there is a runway show and all the top models show up, I have to blog about it. Naomi Campbell, Karolina Kurkova, Alek Wek, Coco Rocha and Crystal Renn all walked Zac's latest show. Love the old Hollywood feel of this collection.

Andrea

P.S. My photo collage editing skills do not give the piece that Coco Rocha is wearing justice. Click here to see it in all its glory.

DIY: Polished Ring Necklace

I took on another DIY project this week after seeing a cool idea from a post on a great blog, P.S. I made this... where old keys were painted and placed on a necklace. I thought it was a cool idea for a necklace and then my mind went off to "what else can I paint and make into a necklace? hmmm". I was looking thru some of my charms and other trinkets as I came across three large metal rings which I had no idea what they were for. I think I may have tried to pass them off as rings at one time but clearly it didn't work out since they were just sitting in a box. After seeing them I started to think I could totally paint them and give the rings a new look. So with my own version of that idea, I grabbed a dark polish from OPI called "Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees" and painted over the rings as thoroughly as possible over a piece of foil as they dried on one side then painted the other side. It's always fun to draw some inspiration from other places, keeps the creativity flowing in my mind which is a lot of fun.

Kirna Zabete for Target

I cannot wait for this line that hits Target stores this Sunday, September 9th! If you know anything about me, you know I love everything about "the red dot boutique" (all my moms gay boyfriends made me call it that when I was younger and it stuck ever since). I've gone crazy for all their designer lines...Missoni...Jason Wu...and now Kirna Zabete! Kirna Zabete is a small designer boutique in New York, think of it as a really small Neiman Marcus. All of the pieces sold at the boutique have been hand picked by the 2 owners, Sarah Easley and Beth Buccini. Both of these ladies have major fashion cred, so I would expect nothing but amazing out of this line. Check out some of the pieces below. I'm gushing over that black blazer and leather skirt, LOVE! Will you be at Target this Sunday morning, I know I will.
xx,
Andrea

DIY: Fresh Coat of Paint

Over the weekend, I took on another small DIY project which I've been wanting to do for awhile. I have this awesome rod iron mannequin silhouette coat rack which is one of my favorite pieces of furniture in my room. I wanted to give it a little makeover so it could blend in better with the rest of my black furniture. So I took a quick trip to Joann's and bought a can of black spray paint to give it the new look. It took about a total of 15 minutes to spray the entire white coat rack to black with just one can of spray paint. Then I let it sit out to dry for a few hours so the spray paint smell would be gone before putting it back into my room. It was a really great and easy DIY project and it revamped my coat rack. Sometimes all you need is a little color change or tweaks to really revamp an object into something great!
