Nicole Richie for Macys

Nicole Richie's line for Macy's is slated to hit stores on September 12th. Being such a big fan of her House of Harlow line, I am very excited for its arrival. A lot of the pieces I have seen so far all contain a little bit of 70's which is Nicole's trademark look. Check out the rest of the collection here.

Andrea

Fashion Night Out 2012

Image via Fashion Night Out

Fashion Night Out is back again for one night only, September 6! Get ready to shop until you drop, or at least window shop! If you are not familiar with this event then you really must live under a unfashionable rock! Just kidding! Anyways, Fashion Night Out is an annual worldwide shopping event where participating retailers open their doors from 6:00pm to 11:00pm for shoppers to buy, view designers new collections and to enjoy the nights special events. This global event was created by Vogue Editor, Anna Wintour in 2009, as a way to not only enjoy fashion but to promote retailers and to stimulate the economy with consumer spending. I can't think of a better night than to spend it shopping and enjoying all things fashion! There are several events happening here in LA on Rodeo Drive, Robertson Blvd, Santa Monica etc with special appearances by designers and celebrities, musical events and even festival attractions depending on the location. I really can't wait to experience it myself and to do a little shopping! Check out Fashion Night Out's official website here for more information on the nights events.

Grilled Artichokes

This past weekend, I was craving artichokes so I decided to whip up a batch. Having never cooked them, I scoured for the perfect recipe. One that was easy and fast, my motto when cooking in the summertime. I came across this recipe and got to work. Seriously, I had no idea that artichokes were so easy to cook! For an evening of sitting outside, enjoying others company, these are perfect to munch on.

Sunday Funday

Sunday are usually not a Funday for me, it symbolizes the end of the weekend and the beginning of another week but this Sunday was actually a FunDay. I spent the day with three of my favorite people in the world; my sister, my nephew and niece. We started out the day with a delicious brunch outside at Studio Cafe(Jinky's) , their food is so good and we sat outside on their patio which was perfect since it wasn't too hot out. After our brunch, we moved on to do a little shopping at Soto, a great boutique on Ventura Blvd. After our retail therapy ended, we needed a break so we walked over to this great little cafe/market called Sweet Butter to take a break to enjoy some iced tea, lemonade and a couple of pastries. It ended up being a really fun day with family, kind of wish my Monday were like my Sunday but there's always next week. Happy Monday Everyone!

Table Topics

Image via Table Topics
Ever have those moments where you run out of things to talk about when your with friends, family, co-workers or at any types of gatherings? Like all you hear are crickets sometimes. I know I've had a few of those moments here and there. It's not a bad thing or doesn't mean your boring, we all have moments where we just get in a different zone and need a little inspiration for topics. So a few weeks ago, out of nowhere I found this Table Topics Cube filled with cards each with a topic written one them. Some cards have topics such as "If you could redo any moment what would it be?" or "what would you rather have intelligence or common sense". It's not only fun to think of an answer but also hearing what others have to say. Table Topics also has other topics for Teens, Couples or for the Girls Night Out so check them out.

Fall Nails

OPI
Image via Fashionista

With Fall fast approaching, not only is it time to start adjusting your wardrobe but I always think changing your nail polish color is a must with the changing season. I like to wear colors to blend with the season so for example for summer it's all about bright and bold colors for me. Now for fall and winter I like to bring the color tones down to more warm and darker colors. So with Fall coming soon, all the major nail polish companies are showcasing their new fall color collections. I'm seeing lots of jewel tones, metallic, dark goth colors and some special effect colors. I definitely already know which ones I'm going to wear. Check out the rest of the collections on Fashionista.

To Spend or to Save?

Hi everyone! Welcome back, I hope your weekend was fantastic. This weekend Rebecca and I changed up the blog a bit. We really liked the idea of having a plain blank canvas so that our posts are easily readable. What do you think? Let us know your thoughts. Now back to business :)

While surfing the Nordstrom website the other day, I came across this dress and remembered that I had seen something just like that at Target, this one. Yes, the Target version has short capped sleeves, but they are almost identical. This just proves you don't have to spend a lot of dough to look get the look you are going for. I think this dress is adorable and would be even cuter with a skinny belt added to the waist. Would you spend or save?
xx,
Andrea

Since school is almost back in session, Our Mismatched Life is taking a mini vacation this week. We figured since everyone else was squeezing in some last minute vacations before summer is over why shouldn't we take a break too. So while we enjoy some fun in the sun during our week of relaxation we hope you enjoy reading our past blogs. We will be back refreshed on Monday! Hope you all enjoy the rest of the week.

Fan it out

It has seriously been so hot over these past few days and it seems to only be getting hotter by the hour. Even at night when it's supposed to cool down I feel like it only gets slightly cooler which is really uncomfortable when you're trying to relax. To make these warm days and nights somewhat bearably cooler I've started using an old fashioned hand fan. It's working really well and helps cool you down so you don't melt completely in this heat. I also have a special fondness for fans since my mom used to collect them. I have many memories of her carrying one with her wherever she went so I definitely enjoy the chance to reminisce as I use one. She really collected some beautiful fans and below are a couple of my favorites along with a special one I received as a gift from my BFF on a trip to Japan. Another great thing about fans is they also serve as a great decorative piece, I have some displayed in vases and spread out showing the great designs.

Bringing it Home from H&M

H&M Homeware via Fashionista

Well this is definitely some good news, H&M just announced they will be bringing their Homeware line to the US in 2013. I am a huge H&M shopper so I can't wait until we can get a hold of their Homeware collection. It's only available in Europe at the moment so the anticipation for it to arrive here in the states will be a bit tough but I'm sure well worth it. H&M Homeware will cover all rooms in a household from the kitchen, bedroom to bathrooms at affordable prices just like their clothing. They will also have some unique decorative pieces for your bedroom, living room and for kids rooms. Another plus is their Homeware will be added to their clothing stores so you can shop for an outfit and a new set of towels or sheets in one visit. It doesn't get better than a one stop shop at H&M. We can catch a glimpse of their collections on their European site (here) and let me tell you it's definitely cute. I can't wait until it becomes available here. Check out the article from Fashionista here.

Popsicle Overload

Image via Vogue

Okay I know we have covered this topic of Popsicle's already but I came across this article on VOGUE called "Ice, Ice Baby: Summer's Best Frozen Treats and just had to share it." The article is about making homemade Popsicle's with a little history on the topic along with 10 great recipes. I've been on this Popsicle making kick throughout the whole summer it's become sort of my Sunday project to make a new set of Popsicle's. Enjoying one a few times a week after a long day makes for a great treat plus it's fresh and healthier than going to get a creamy ice cream filled with a crazy amount of sugar. Another plus it's a really cheap treat to make from home. Anyways, this article includes some very different and unique recipes that sound delicious. I'm going to try the "Pomegranate", "Fudge Pop" and the "Strawberry Ice", they all sound so good so who knows I may end up making all of them. Got any good Popsicle recipes?

London 2012 Olympic Games

You're watching, right? Check out these very emotional photos that have been captured throughout the games so far. To read the captions and see more, check them out here. As I get teary-eyed watching these games, I can't imagine what the competitors are going through. All of the competitors are so strong and commit so much of their time in making sure they show the best that they can at the games. Enjoy :)

Andrea
